A classmate and I decided to take a short trip to visit Hiroshima. To reach there, we had to take the flight to Fukuoka Airport then changed to the ShinKansen bullet train. We were pleasantly surprised when we were upgraded to business class when boarding the plane.

This was my very first business class meal.

I bought some sushi for refreshments on the train to Hiroshima.

This wooden bridge used to be the only way to get into the Hiroshima castle.

The castle served as an oasis in the city center in present day.

The keep of Hiroshima castle was rebuilt following the original design but with modern materials. The original keep was destroyed during the atomic bombing.

Shukkei-en (literally condensed sceneries garden) was a Japanese garden said to be designed base on sceneries of the West Lake at Hangzhou, China.

Plum blossoms in the garden.

This bridge mimicked one of the most famous scenery of the West Lake.

We had the Hiroshima style okonomiyaki for dinner. The ingredients of the okonomiyaki were layered in the Hiroshima style, while the ingredients were all mixed together in the Kansai style.
